Enhance your career prospects with the Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and
Learning. This 20-week programme delivers the knowledge and skills needed for working directly with children and young people in school and college environments. You will explore all aspects of specialist support, including planning, delivering and reviewing assessment strategies to support learning, bilingual support, special needs support, and personal development and reflective practice. This qualification will not only support employment opportunities, but also the possibility of progressing to our Teaching and Learning Support degree course. Attendance at College is 4.5 hours a week, Wednesday 4.30-9pm, term-time only.
You must have completed a ‘pre-entry’ placement in a relevant school or college of at least 60 hours’ duration (with a further 200 hours to be completed throughout the course itself). You must also be at least 19. Ideally, you will have completed the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges before enrolling on this course; however, this is not mandatory if you have completed the recommended 60-hour placement detailed above.
Teaching and Learning Methods
You will attend college for a 4.5-hour session on a Wednesday evening (4.30-9pm), weekly (term-time only) for 20 weeks. Within these sessions there will be tutor delivery, question and answers, discussion, observation, group work tasks and individual tasks. It is expected that you will also complete a minimum of 4.5 hours’ independent study, weekly, to complete your assignments.

All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
