As we see an increasingly ageing population, the number of adults needing around-the-clock care is on the rise. As well as the need for medical care, there is also a need for high levels of personal care to allow those who need support to live as comfortably as possible.
On this course, you will learn about person-centred care in a wide range of settings, which will provide you with the knowledge required to understand how to work in a person-centred way. You will also learn about how to support personal hygiene, pressure area care, foot care, and how to help people maintain oral health. You will also get an introduction and awareness of sepsis and how this can affect people, and who it may affect. You will also learn to understand signs, symptoms, causes and treatments of sepsis
It is aimed at anyone working in a healthcare or social care environment, or those wishing to expand knowledge as they embark in a career within the sector.
No previous training or experience is required for this programme but you must be over 19 year of age on the 31st August before the course start date.
Teaching and Learning Methods
The course is delivered remotely and runs over 12 weeks with 4.5 hours of scheduled contact time each week. You will be assigned a subject specialist course tutor who will deliver the live scheduled sessions. The tutor will also be available for weekly support and to guide you from the beginning to the completion of your qualification.
It is expected that you will complete a minimum of 3 hours independent study, each week, outside of the class to complete the assessment tasks which take the form of electronic workbooks.

All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
