Awareness of Dementia - Level 2 (Day)

Develop specialist knowledge and understanding of dementia with the Level 2 Awareness of Dementia. You will explore the causes and symptoms of dementia and identify the provision of positive care for people with dementia and their families. Aligned to the National Dementia Strategy, this qualification is ideally suited to those who directly support individuals with dementia who work within healthcare, social care, leisure and entertainment, education and training, and nursing. The programme supports enhanced employment opportunities and progression to further study while the part-time format and choice of class times fit conveniently around your life.
There are no specific entry requirements for this programme and you don't need to be employed within the sector.
Modules and Assessment
Teaching and Learning Methods
You will attend College for a three hour session each week for 4 weeks. These sessions will comprise a variety of teaching methods, including group activities and discussions, with 1-2-1 support also provided.
When you start the programme we will assign you a progress tutor who will support you in collating your written evidence. This will consist mostly of workbooks and some additional tasks such as simple leaflet and poster design.

All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
