English - GCSE
Course Code: GK1FE2116
The GCSE English programme draws upon a range of texts and allows you to engage with creative as well as real-life contexts. You will have opportunities to develop higher reading and critical thinking skills that encourage genuine enquiry into different topics and themes. This will ensure you develop the ability to read fluently and write effectively. The course aims to provide students with a confident control of Standard English, equipping them to write grammatically correct sentences, use descriptive language and analyse texts.
We can offer you a place on this course if you have GCSE English grade D or 3 or Functional Skills English at Level 2. If you don’t have the above grades, you can take an initial assessment instead, for which you will need to achieve 70%.
Teaching and Learning Methods
The course is delivered over 3 hours a week for 30 weeks and you can choose from different times, days and venues across the College to suit. Online learning is also accessible, supported by a range of excellent interactive resources.
