Course Overview

Throughout this course you will learn essential hand and machine sewing skills, design and construct an item(s) of your choice and within your own capabilities, using colour and fabric creatively. You will learn through observation, demonstrations, group work and practical projects, sharing ideas, skills and opinions.Term 1:In term 1 you will become proficient in hand sewing using a number of basic stitches:running stitch, back stitch, blanket stitch You will progress to explore basic sewing techniques including: complete projects including: a pin cushion, sewing kitLearners then progress onto machine sewing, learning how to use a machine, practice control and complete machine sewn projects including a cushion or apron with applique design and decorative bunting.

Entry Requirements

Learners must be 19 or over. No other specific entry requirements.
