Creative Soft Furnishings for the Home
Course Code: GC2EC2201
Next available course:
Through this course you will design and construct an item(s) of your choice and within your own capabilities, using colour and fabric creatively. This can be anything from a cushion (or even pincushion) to a full-size window treatment. You may start with samples in order to build your confidence, before embarking on a main project. You will learn through observation, demonstrations, group work and practical projects, sharing ideas, skills and opinions.
You will need enthusiasm and a keen interest in sewing in order to create individual items for the home. Basic sewing skills would be an advantage but not essential.
Teaching and Learning Methods
These are workshop style sessions, with techniques demonstrated by the tutor as they guide and support you to work on your own individual projects. Each term is 10 weeks in length, with each session lasting two hours.
You will be required to do some work on your projects in your own time.
