Through this course you will design and construct an item(s) of your own choice and within your own capabilities, using colour and fabric creatively. This can be anything from a cushion (or even pincushion) to a full size window treatment. You may start with samples in order to build your confidence, before embarking on a main project. You will learn through observation, demonstrations, group work and practical projects, sharing ideas, skills and opinions. Term 2: This term you will extend your knowledge and techniques, finishing with a completed project. Term 3: In Term 3, your understanding and skills learnt will be assessed and this will form the basis of the learning for this term to allow you to continue to extend your knowledge and challenge you further.
Applicants must be 19 plus Enthusiasm and a keen interest in sewing in order to create individual items for the home. Basic sewing skills would be an advantage but not essential.

This is a workshop style session where techniques will be demonstrated and students will work on individual projects with specialist guidance and support from the tutor.
