Course SummaryCourse Summary The content of this course has been designed to give you the knowledge and skills required to work safely on Hybrid and Pure Electric vehicles whilst carrying out diagnostic, testing and repair activities. This may include vehicles that have incurred damage to their high energy/electrical system. In successfully completing this course you will acquire significant core knowledge and skills and the ability to remove and replace Electric/Hybrid vehicle high voltage components. Anyone who completes this course with B&FC can join the IMI membership community free of charge and claim their IMI TechSafe™ recognition on the IMI Professional Register. Entry Requirements The course is designed for anyone who needs to work on electric vehicles as part of the maintenance or repair process. This includes (but is not limited to): Service and Repair Technicians; Diagnostic Technicians; MET Technicians; Roadside Recovery Technicians and Vehicle Body Repair Technicians. You should have vehicle repair knowledge and skills at Level 3, or at least 3 years industry experience in a vehicle repair environment. Please note: Where wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is a mandatory requirement of the course, it is the responsibility of the learner to ensure that they are able to wear such equipment. Qualification ObtainedAward in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement Industry Placement and Field TripsThis course has no work placements and no field trips. Learning and Teaching Methods This qualification contains two mandatory units: EV2.2 – You will learn How to work safely on hybrid/electric vehicles The layout and construction of electric/hybrid drive powertrain systems and identify key components The principals of high voltage battery construction, management and monitoring systems How to identify approved tools and safety equipment How to carry out procedures to isolate and reinstate high energy electrical systems How to connect alternative power sources to an electric/hybrid vehicle (high or low voltage system) EV3 – You will learn: How to disconnect and reconnect a high energy system battery How to remove and refit high energy system components Training includes a combination of presentations and practical activities. A maximum class size of 4 ensures you can work at your own pace and receive outstanding levels of tutor support. Expert Tutors All staff involved in the delivery of further education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
