Course Overview

If you are at least 19 years old and have already completed a relevant Level 2 qualification, this one year course is ideal for continuing your journey to a rewarding career.

This Level 3 Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair course is designed to help you further develop your learning to industry-standards and focuses on the fault diagnostic aspects required of a modern-day Motor Mechanic or Motor Vehicle Technician.

Entry Requirements


  • You must be aged at least 19 before the course starts in September
  • You must have successfully completed a relevant Level 2 qualification, or have at least 1 years industry experience
  • You must be able to attend one evening per/week

Teaching and Learning Methods

You will be taught by tutors who have a wealth of industry experience and a passion for passing on their skills and experiences. Your tutors will get to know how you learn best and tailor their teaching methods to your needs.

There are opportunities for you to discuss your progress and you will be allocated a team manager to support you through every aspect of your learning and development.

This course is mainly practical-based and you will spend most of your time developing knowledge and skills in our state-of-the-art automotive workshops.

There will be occasions where your tutor will deliver sessions in the classroom to help strengthen your knowledge and to prepare you for theory assessments (online tests).

Typical practical / theory split is…

  • Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Practical (Workshop – 98 hours)
  • Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Theory (Classroom – 24 hours)
  • Independent Study (2 hours)
