What will I learn?

The Data Analytics foundation degree (Digital Enterprise pathway) focuses on helping you develop the technical and professional skills to collect, analyse, and communicate data effectively. You will work with real datasets, apply statistical techniques, and use modern tools to turn information into valuable insight. The course builds your confidence in data handling, while preparing you to make responsible and ethical decisions in data-driven environments.

You will study the following modules:

  • Data Modelling and Visualisation introduces tools and techniques for transforming raw data into clear visual outputs. You will create charts, dashboards, and infographics that make complex information easier to understand.
  • Principles of Data Analytics explores how data is used to spot patterns, solve problems, and support decision-making. You will learn how to work with different types of data and apply techniques such as correlation and regression.
  • Digital Marketing teaches you how data is used to target audiences, track engagement, and improve online campaigns. You will explore key metrics, digital tools, and how data supports marketing decisions.
  • Global Communication Trends looks at how digital communication is changing across the world. You will explore cultural differences, digital behaviours, and how data helps organisations adapt to global audiences.

Industry placement, field trips and guest speakers

As part of the Work-Based Learning module, you will complete a short placement or live project that gives you the chance to apply your data skills in a professional setting. This could involve working with an employer, contributing to a real brief, or gaining experience on campus with tutor support. The delivery team will help you find a placement or project that matches your interests and goals.

In addition, all Digital Enterprise students benefit from guest speaker sessions throughout the year. These talks give you the chance to hear from professionals working in digital, data, and tech-focused roles.
