Creative Craft
Summary
Want to explore your creativity but not sure where to start? This course offers an introduction to a variety of creative crafts so that you can sample difference techniques to see if any spark your imagination.
Over 10 weeks you will undertake a range of creative projects from printing and clay work to candle making and embroidery. Throughout you'll be guided by expert tutors who will support your learning and encourage you to acquire not only the basic techniques of each creative craft but also to develop your own creative style.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements to enrol on this course apart from being 19 or over. All we ask is that you come with enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

This is a leisure-learning course and, as such, is not designed to promote a career pathway. However, learners may find that this course ignites a passion for a particular creative craft which could ultimately lead to further study and the possibility of developing business opportunities as a result.

All basic materials for the course will be provided by the college. However, you are welcome to bring in materials you wish to work with for a particular craft.
What will I learn?
During the course you will focus on a number of different crafts from candle-making and embroidery to clay work and printing. As well as learning basic techniques associated with each craft, you will be encouraged to explore the materials of each craft and to think about the different ways you might work with them to create different visual effects.
The course is also designed to help you develop the ability to originate creative ideas and concepts and to see how you can take those ideas and turn them in actual pieces of work. You will be asked to consider elements like form, texture, pattern, colour and finish to help you create pieces which are unique to you and your personal aesthetic

How will I learn?
The course is delivered one evening a week over 10 weeks and takes place in our well-equipped art and design studios where you will find a range of equipment that will allow you to explore different media.
Practical in nature, you will learn primarily through observation, demonstration, group work and practical projects all under the expert eye of tutors who have years of
experience working and teaching in the creative arts. You will also be encouraged to share ideas, skills and opinions with your fellow classmates to generate a creative environment in which you all can flourish.
How will I be assessed?
There is no formal assessment on this course. However, tutors will provide ongoing informal feedback and advice to help students make the most of the projects they are working on
