You’ll begin with an overview of how AI works and where it’s used today. From there, you’ll explore computer vision through an interactive photo app and experiment with machine translation using online translation tools.

What will I learn?

This short introductory programme is delivered over two weeks (3.5 hours per week) and is designed to help learners explore how artificial intelligence (AI) is used in everyday life and work. The course combines short videos, interactive activities, and guided discussions using free, AI-enabled tools.

Module 1: Getting Started with Artificial Intelligence

Introduction to what AI is and how it impacts daily life and modern workplaces.
Exploration of real-world AI applications across business, education, and technology.
Hands-on activities using simple AI tools to recognise patterns, images, and text.
Introduction to computer vision using a photo app to understand how machines “see.”

Module 2: Exploring AI Tools and Chatbots

Introduction to machine translation using online tools such as Google Translate.
Deep dive into AI chatbots — understanding how they work and what they can do.
Practical exercises in writing effective prompts to get better results from AI systems.

Our recruitment process ensures that tutors delivering a given programme are suitably qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and a familiarity with professional practice. The aim of this is to enrich students’ learning experience, giving them an insight into what working in the industry is really like.

How will I be assessed?

There is no formal assessment. However, learners will be invited to complete a short, open-ended activity where they apply what they’ve learned to a real or imagined scenario — for example, using AI to plan an event, create content, or improve a simple task. Informal feedback will be given during the task to help learners improve their final outcomes.
