Course SummaryThis Level 4 programme is specifically designed for individuals who want to take their Level 3 learning in Construction to the next level with a focus on quantity surveying and management. Whilst students who have studied at Level 3 will have been introduced to construction management, this course gives them the opportunity to build on that knowledge. In particular, it will: give students the skills, knowledge and understanding they need to achieve high performance in the international construction environment develop students with enquiring minds, who have the abilities and confidence to work across different business functions and to lead, manage, respond to change, and tackle a range of complex construction situations provide the core skills required for a range of careers in construction, specifically those related to management and operations offer a balance between employability skills and the knowledge essential for students with entrepreneurial, employment or academic ambitions develop students’ understanding of the major impact that new digital technologies have on the construction environment provide insight into international business operations and the opportunities and challenges presented by a global marketplace equip students with knowledge and understanding of culturally diverse organisations, cross-cultural issues, diversity and values, and to allow flexible study to meet local and specialist needs. Students have the option to study this programme full-time for one year which will involve a commitment of 2 days per week at College or part-time over two years which will mean attending College 1 day a week. Entry RequirementsTo be considered for the programme, students should have: GCSE at grade 4 or above in English and mathematics or equivalent Level 3 or above in relevant subject area equating to 64 UCAS Tariff Points Applicants who can demonstrate relevant work/life skills or knowledge will also be considered on an individual basis Qualification ObtainedBTEC Higher National Certificate in Quantity Surveying Industry Placement and Field TripsThere are no mandatory work placements as part of the programme but students who are not already working in the construction industry are encouraged to find paid or voluntary work to allow them to practice their skills outside of the programme's remit. Site visits to various construction projects will form part of the learning experience. The delivery design of the programme will take a blended approach. This will provide students the opportunity to attend lecturers online and face to face. The rationale for this is to ensure the curriculum widens its participation to candidates from other towns and cities.
