Painting and Decorating - Level 1
Course Code: CP1FE88
Prepare for a painting and decorating career with the Level 1 Diploma in Painting and Decorating. This one-year programme provides a comprehensive introduction to paint systems, application techniques, applying foundation and plain papers, and decorative finishes. Work experience with a local employer or community project is also included to support your development and potentially provide access to a full-time apprenticeship. We offer high quality tuition from expert tutors in superbly equipped workshops and classrooms. Successful students progress to higher level programmes, with some specialising in advanced crafts or branching out into fascinating careers such as heritage restoration and interior design.
You don’t need formal qualifications to do this programme, just a passion for working within the construction industry and a commitment to your studies.
However, if you don’t have at least grade 3 in maths and/or English, you will need to continue these subjects as part of your programme.
All 16-18 year old applicants will be invited to attend an interview to meet a tutor and ask any questions they may have about the course.
Teaching and Learning Methods
We use a variety of teaching methods to provide a lively and stimulating learning experience that allows you to achieve your full potential. These range from demonstrations and guest speakers to videos, webinars and e-learning.
You will spend 70% of your time engaged in practical work within our well-equipped workshops, with access to industry-standard craft-based training equipment. The remaining time will be spent in a class-based environment working on theory (and potentially English and maths) or in a weekly progress meeting with your tutor.
