The ACS Natural Gas to LPG Assessment is designed for engineers who already hold CCN1 accreditation and want to add LPG to their scope of work. This assessment verifies your knowledge, competence, and safety awareness when working with Liquid Petroleum Gas systems, focusing on the key differences between natural gas and LPG. You’ll be assessed on key aspects of working with LPG systems in line with current legislation and ACS and Gas Safe standards.

Start Working on Domestic LPG Installations

Successful completion of the programme allows you to commission and work on LPG appliances in domestic settings provided you have the required certification in each of the appliances concerned.
Ideal for gas engineers who service off-grid and rural communities where people often rely on LPG products for their hearing requirements and for those looking to expand into commercial LPG work, this assessment helps you broaden your services, improve employability and increase your earning potential within the gas industry.
Key Course Information
Entry Requirements
Operatives must hold either the Core Domestic Natural Gas Safety (CCN1) or Core Commercial Gas Safety (COCN1). We will need to see evidence of this prior to the start of the programme
Also operatives must hold the domestic natural gas qualification for LPG appliance types that they wish to work on.
For example, to work on a an LPG fired cooker on a boat, operatives must hold the following:
- Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1)
- Cookers (CKR1)
- LPG Changeover (CONGLP1)
- Boats (CONGLP B)
You have to be registered with Gas Safe Register and held your ACS for a minimum of 12 months to do this course.

All the equipment required to complete the programme will be supplied by B&FC.
What You’ll Learn
You will be assessed on various aspects of LPG from its properties and combustion characteristics to installation requirements, ventilation and flues. You will also be tested on the key technical, safety and regulatory differences between LPG and natural gas than you need to know to operate compliantly and confidently.
How You’ll Learn
The ACS Natural Gas to LPG Assessment is an assessment rather than a training course so you will not be expected to learn any additional information or skills during this time.

This is assessed through a combination of practical tasks and multiple-choice question papers.
