Expand Your Scope to Install Domestic Cookers
This Cooker/Space Heating CAT 2 Training is designed to support gas engineers who are planning to undergo their CKR1 or HTR1 Initial Assessments or who require refresher training for their Reassessment in either of these categories.
The training is completed over the course of one day and covers all the key knowledge and trade skills required to complete either assessment successfully. You will cover installation, connection, maintenance, fault-finding and repair together with all the relevant health and safety information and all the latest regulatory requirements and best practice.
The course is aimed at anyone who works in the domestic energy market who fits and commissions gas -uelled appliances such as cookers and wall-mounted gas heaters and is delivered in a way to ensure you have the best chance of securing your accreditation so that you can start or continue to work in this sector.
Entry Requirements
Candidates must already be accredited with either (CCN1) Domestic Gas Safety or (COCDN1) Changeover from Commercial Core to Domestic Gas and be Gas Safe Registered for a minimum of 6 months for any additional appliances.

What You’ll Learn
You'll learn about both domestic cooking appliances and space heaters.
For domestic cookers, you will focus on:
- Installation, commissioning, and servicing of gas hobs, freestanding cookers, and built-in appliances
- Ventilation and flueing requirements
- Identifying faults and unsafe situations
For space heaters, you will cover:
- Open-flue and room-sealed gas fires
- Decorative fuel effect appliances and wall heaters
- Flue performance testing, installation standards, and maintenance procedures
How You’ll Learn
This training course is delivered over one day with sessions both in the classroom and workshop to cover both the theoretical and practical aspects of the course. There will be opportunity to see a variety of practical tasks demonstrated by our industry-expert tutors with plenty of time to practise these tasks in preparation for assessment and receive valuable feedback on how you can improve your technical skills.

How You’ll Be Assessed
There is no formal assessment on the training programme as this will take place on the CKR1 and HTR1 Assessment or Reassessment respectively. However, candidates will have the opportunity to practise assessment-based tasks and theory papers with input from course tutors.
