Summary

This CKR1 reassessment course offers comprehensive training, updating of knowledge and practical skills identified in the current approved codes of practice. The training also provides the operative with the necessary preparation and revision for CKR1 assessment.   

Training and assessments consist of:

  • Installation
  • Servicing 
  • Installation 
  • Fault finding

Completion of this course allows the operative to continue to install and maintain domestic gas cookers.

Career progression

This course is a reassessment of an existing qualification which must be renewed every five years to allow operatives to continue to install, commission and maintain gas cookers.

Key information

Entry Requirements

Candidates must hold CCN1 and existing CKR1 certification to be eligible for reassessment. Evidence of these certifications must be provided prior to the commencement of the course.

Please note: Where wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is a mandatory requirement of the course, it is the responsibility of the learner to ensure that they are able to wear such equipment. What will I learn?

Industry placement, field trips and guest speakers

There are no work placements or field trips associated with this course.

How will I learn?

You will cover the following areas:

  • Checking the intended installation site
  • Securing the appliance correctly
  • Operating pressures
  • The gas connection and supply pipes
  • Ventilation requirements
  • Tightness testing
  • Commissioning and testing the appliance

The course will take place in our dedicated gas training centre which has state-of-the-art teaching facilities allowing you to practise what you learn in a simulated environment. This will in turn allow the tutor to assess that you are working competently and safely and give you any feedback necessary to improve your working practices.

To be awarded the qualification, you must successfully pass the associated theory and practical assessments associated with the course.

You will, however, have plenty of opportunity to practice the various aspects of the practical assessment you are expected to undertake and receive ongoing feedback and guidance from the course tutor to ensure your theoretical knowledge is up to scratch.
