The Level 3 Site Carpentry allows you to develop specialist higher-level skills in your chosen craft area. The course explores various aspects of site-based carpentry through a combination of practical and theory work, preparing you to start work straight away or progress to a higher-level qualification. You will also have the opportunity to gain real industrial experience via a work placement and community challenges, enhancing your skills along with your future career prospects.
This course is for adults who have either completed the Level 2 Diploma in Joinery or who have suitable industry experience, which our curriculum staff will determined at interview.

Teaching and Learning Methods
Expert tutors use a range of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles and to support you in developing relevant skills and an in-depth understanding of safe working practices. These include site visits, guest speakers, guest lecturers, seminars, class-based written work, digital devices and online development, field visits and role play.
A typical week consists of 12.5 hours' timetabled time, 70% of which is practical and 30% theory. Learning mostly takes place in our newly extended Construction Skills Centre, installed with specialised craft-based training equipment, the same as that used in industry.

All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
