The Aspiring to Lead a Team course runs over a 5-week period with one day a week delivery sessions face to face at our Bispham Campus and is ideal for those who wish to boost their understanding and performance as a team member or to support you in developing the knowledge and transition from working in a team, to leading a team of individuals. If you are currently a senior member of the team or a supervisor aspiring to take the next step or a team leader developing your skills, this course will help build your confidence and enhance your effectiveness within your role.

Whilst formal English qualifications are not required for direct entry on to this programme, you will need to possess proficient English skills that will enable you to fully participate in all aspects of your learning and successfully achieve your qualification.

You need to be working within an organisation or role where you can demonstrate skills and apply knowledge. Alternatively, you could draw on previous experience within an organisation or use an organisation you are familiar with.

How will I learn?

A flexible blended model will be utilised to enable you to meet the learning outcomes of the programme.

All assessments will be directly related to your role and will involve work related scenarios which have the potential to impact positively on business growth and development. This will consist of a full day session over a 5-week period. The face-to-face delivery will consist of intensive interactive teaching and learning activities which will support the development through a community of learning; the acquisition of content and facilitate formative and summative assessments. Online materials to support directed independent learning via our OneFile VLE and CMI resources. All written assessments will be submitted through our OneFile E-Portfolio where written feedback will be provided. The course will consist of delivery in the morning then completion of engaging learning content and group tasks with the completion of assessment in the afternoon.

Assessment on programme will comprise of various methods that will evaluate your knowledge, skills and competencies that have been acquired throughout your programme of study including:

  • Written Assignments: Candidates are often required to complete written assignments that demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of management theories and practices
  • Case Studies: Analysis of real-world scenarios to apply theoretical concepts and demonstrate problem-solving skills
  • Reflective Journals: Candidates may keep reflective journals to document their learning experiences and personal development throughout the course
  • Presentations: Presentations to assess communication skills and the ability to convey management concepts effectively
  • Project Work: Practical projects that involve planning, executing, and evaluating management tasks
