Course Summary Advance your management career with the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA) programme delivered in conjunction with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). Choose from four different pathways: Finance Digital marketing Human resources Leadership On successful completion of this degree apprenticeship programme you will have accomplished three prized qualifications: Foundation Degree in Business Management, awarded by Lancaster University BA (Hons) Management degree, awarded by Lancaster University CMI Level 5: Leadership and Management You will be provided with an excellent range of management and leadership skills to support your management career. Through dual accreditation with CMI, you will stand out from other candidates and be highly sought after by employers. You will also have the opportunity to become a Chartered Manager. The key to your success is the application of theory to the workplace in every module that you study. The programme has been designed with real industry flexibility at the heart of its design. In the first year of study you will experience a range of modules which will feature Marketing, Finance, Human Resources and Leadership. This then gives you the freedom to embark on your specialist pathway in the second and third years of study. Entry Requirements The employer would ordinarily assess the applicant to commence this programme. We would expect applicants to have: A minimum of 80 UCAS points in an appropriate discipline. Applicants who are able to demonstrate substantial relevant work/life skills or knowledge will also be considered on an individual basis. All applicants must be in employment for the duration of the apprenticeship. Qualification ObtainedCertificate in Skills for Further Education and Employment Entry Requirements The employer would ordinarily assess the applicant to commence this programme. We would expect applicants to have: A minimum of 80 UCAS points in an appropriate discipline. Applicants who are able to demonstrate substantial relevant work/life skills or knowledge will also be considered on an individual basis. All applicants must be in employment for the duration of the apprenticeship. Learning and Teaching Methods The teaching and learning methods are designed to deliver the programme outcomes of the foundation degree and to support you in becoming independent researcher, self-starter and lifelong learner with a high degree of employability. A range of delivery techniques, including problem based learning, lectures, seminars, webinars, work based learning and other interactive activities are deployed on the programme. At both levels 4 and 5, you will be encouraged to conduct wider reading around your subject area to facilitate independent learning and study skills, guided and supported by staff member’s expertise and specialisms. Contact hours on an apprenticeship are flexible depending on the employer needs, however they will be roughly 6 hours contact delivery a month and 6 hours blended delivery a week. Industry Placement There is a mandatory work placement project on this course of 96 hours. There are no field trips. The work based project is negotiated between you, your tutor and the employer. It enables you to focus on a particular aspect of the organisation and apply theories and models to the practical work place setting. The module will provide you with opportunities to develop a greater understanding of the key factors associated with working in industry and provide a framework for you to evidence key transferable skills gained. Expert Tutors All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice. Career Options and Progression Business Management degrees provide the greatest variety of career pathways in national and international organisations, both private and public, as well as in small and medium companies around the world. Some graduates also go on to start businesses themselves. Graduates can specialise in Leadership, Finance, Marketing or Human Resource Management. The programme offers progression on to the BA (Hons) Management on the successful achievement of the Foundation Degree. With the demand for well-qualified management graduates opportunities exist to progress into graduate employment. Graduates have begun their careers as trainee graduate managers, project managers, brand managers, retail and HR managers. Our alumni are working for a wide variety of employers from established organisations such as BAE, Tesco, NHS, to local employers such as Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackpool Transport and the Federation of Small Business. Some former graduates are pursuing their studies with PGCE teacher training or professional qualifications, with some continuing their studies with Master's degrees.
