Course SummaryStart or advance your career in Business Administration with the Certificate in Principles of Business Administration. This new course has been co-created with employers to develop skills in business working environments, data management, and customer service. The optional units have been tailored to local labour demand. You will also benefit from expert tutors with a wealth of industry experience. This course is designed for people who are looking for a job in business administration and also for those already working in an administrative role and want to upskill to be able to progress. The course is delivered on a Wednesday evening. You may be eligible for the advanced learner loan to fund your studies. To support your studies you may be eligible for different financial support for students aged 19+ which include help with childcare. Eligibility applies. Entry Requirements This course is for adults aged 19 and over and ideally suited for people working in a business administration environment and looking to progress in this area. You will need to complete an entry assessment, and we will invite you to have an informal discussion with the Course Tutor. Entry onto the course is dependent upon qualifications and/or experience. Qualification ObtainedDiploma in Business Administration Industry Placement and Field TripsWork placement and field trips are not part of this course. Learning and Teaching Methods At Blackpool and The Fylde College we recognise that all students learn differently and for some it may be a return to the classroom following a break from formal learning. Our tutors work with you to ensure that their teaching methods support the way that you like to learn. One key teaching and learning method is that of demonstrations. Your tutors ensure that demonstrations are used whenever possible so you can see the practical skill being used so you can then practise the skill. You will work collaboratively with your peers in group work, presentations and within practical sessions. There will be dedicated individual/self-study time on your programme which needs to be supported by your own study out of the College learning environments. E-learning is also a key element of all our courses and will involve you using our Moodle platform for independent study and learning. Within the curriculum we also use a range of on-line apps to support, enhance and motivate learning. Your tutors will be support you with new technologies used in the classroom. This course is Wednesday evening 6-9pm for classroom study plus 2hrs a week independent e-learning. Total hours 120. Modules/Subjects Covered During the year you will study three mandatory units and further optional units specifically chosen to provide you with the skills you need in today’s competitive job market. Principles of Business: 22% Principles of Business Communication and Information: 16% Principles of Administration 35/210: 15% You will also study four optional units which are chosen by the team depending on local employment opportunities, these could include: Understand how to develop and deliver a presentation: 7% Understand how to deliver customer service: 11% Principles of leadership and management: 22% Understand equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace: 7% Expert Tutors All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice. Assessment MethodsAssessment is 100% coursework through a variety of internally assessed methods presented in a portfolio. Formal written reports and assessments, presentations, interviews and practical assessments. There are no exams for this qualification. Each unit will be typically assessed by no more than four assignments. Other Costs and Equipment NeededAll students will be expected to provide their own stationery, including pens, notepad and an A4 folder. An extra curricula calendar will be made available at the start of the academic year. There will be a wide variety of opportunities for participation, however, these are not mandatory. The costs will vary according to activity. Tuition Fees Some courses are fully funded for adult learners and, for those that aren’t, you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.
