The Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership is an ideal pathway for anybody already working in the hospitality sector who wants to progress into a senior position and/or progress onto Higher Education, including the HNC in Hospitality Management. You’ll learn the importance of leadership in this industry and all the skills that make up being an effective leader. These include communication, excellent customer service, motivational techniques and management of staff, rotas, customer issues, and health and safety requirements. You’ll plan events and supervise front of house in our newly refurbished commercial restaurant located on the 6th floor of our Bispham campus to put your learning into practice and continue developing. Entry RequirementsThis course is for adults aged 19 and over. Some experience in the hospitality industry would be beneficial although not essential if you are about to take up a new role in this sector. You will need to complete an entry assessment, and we will invite you to have an informal discussion with the Course Tutor. Entry onto the course is dependent upon qualifications and/or experience. Our tutors work with you to ensure that their teaching methods support the way that you like to learn. One key teaching and learning method is that of demonstrations. Your tutors ensure that demonstrations are used whenever possible so you can see the practical skill being used so you can then practise the skill. You will work collaboratively with your peers in group work, presentations and within practical sessions. There will be dedicated individual/self-study time on your programme which needs to be supported by your own study out of the College learning environments. E-learning is also a key element of all our courses and will involve you using our Canvas platform for independent study and learning. Within the curriculum we also use a range of on-line apps to support, enhance and motivate learning. Your tutors will be support you with new technologies used in the classroom. Expert Tutors All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
