Key information Course SummaryDevelop the skills and knowledge needed to start a rewarding career in hospitality and catering with the T level in Professional Catering. You will learn a wide range of topics including kitchen operations, culinary skills, food safety and business. There is also a focus on developing customer service skills along with an awareness of environmental and sustainability themes. Entry RequirementsThis course is for students aged 16-18. All applicants will be invited to attend an interview to meet a tutor and ask any questions they may have about the course. A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or higher, including Maths and English. Qualification ObtainedNon regulated provision, Level 3, Hospitality and Catering Industry Placement and Field TripsIndustry placement runs for a minimum of 315 hours (45 days) overall and will give you practical insights into the sector and an opportunity to embed the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom. Learning and Teaching MethodsYou will work collaboratively with your peers in group work, presentations and within practical salon sessions. Following demonstrations, you will then have hands on practical time where you will be learning the practical culinary skills. In addition, you will also be expected to apply these skills in our on-site 6th floor restaurant. There will be dedicated individual/self-study time on your programme which needs to be supported by your own study out of the College learning environments. Online learning is also a key element of all our courses. Within the curriculum we also use a range of on-line apps to support, enhance and motivate learning. Your tutors will be support you with new technologies used in the classroom. Your tutors will support you in preparing for your examinations alongside your own responsibility for your learning.
