Summary

The Nail Technology course is designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to excel in the nail care and beauty industry. Students learn about nail anatomy, Manicure, Nail Enhancements using acrylic and Nail Art techniques for providing high-quality nail services to clients. The course covers both theory and hands-on practice, enabling students to develop the expertise needed to become professional nail technicians.

Extra costs and equipment

You will be required to wear a professional uniform for this course. If you are new to the industry and do not have a uniform, please do not worry. If this is the case then please wear plain black trousers, a plain black short sleeved top and flat black shoes.

On completion of this course and if you want to practise professionally, you will need to liaise with your insurance company in relation to your cover.

What will I learn?

Industry placement, field trips and guest speakers

There are no field trips or work placement associated with this course.

How will I learn?

A variety of teaching methods are used to ensure that the course responds to the preferred learning styles of different students. As the course is largely practical in nature, tutors will spend considerable time demonstrating key techniques before students have the opportunity to practise these and receive feedback to help them improve. The course is taught in our newly refurbished training salon which has been designed to mimic a real workplace.

Please note that you may be expected to model for the treatment and/or bring your own model to practise on.

How will I be assessed?

The course covers the following topics:

  • Health and safety considerations
  • Preparation of the work area
  • Products, tools and equipment required to carry out the service
  • Step by step technique to achieve optimum results
  • Aftercare and home care advice
  • Retail opportunities

Assessment is based on a combination of practical observation and online examinations to confirm students have acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to work professionally in the sector.
