Lead to Succeed supports you to progress your career in adult social care. It is a practical learning programme aimed at aspiring supervisors or supervisors in the adult care sector. It is designed to allow you to develop your supervisory potential, gaining knowledge, skills and behaviours that can improve your workplace performance and boost your capacity to lead and supervise effectively.

Career progression

This course is primarily designed to support you in developing your excellence in supervisory practice in adult social care. This may lead to progression to supervisory or managerial roles both within your own organisation and externally.

You may also wish to progress onto ‘Well Led’ which is offered at Blackpool and The Fylde College, designed to develop managers within the social care sector.

Key information

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, but we recommend that you are already employed in the care industry in a supervisory role or looking to progress to one. The course has practical elements which draw on your workplace experience which requires you to be familiar with a variety of genuine care-based scenarios. It is therefore important that you can relate your learning to your day-to-day work to fully benefit from the programme.

Extra costs and equipment

You will need writing materials to support you on this course or you may choose to use a laptop to support your studies. Transport costs to the University Centre on Park Road may also be incurred in addition to a £2 daily charge for the car park. There are no other costs incurred.

  • Successful behaviours of leaders and managers
  • Developing a positive culture
  • Effective supervision
  • Leading and managing the process of change
  • Leading and managing the inspection process

Industry placement, field trips and guest speakers

There are no industry placements or field trips.

How will I learn?

You will be taught using a variety of methods which includes interactive lectures, group discussions facilitated by the tutor, case study analysis and application to the workplace and independent research to inform debate.

There are no formal assessments for this course. You will receive weekly verbal feedback from your tutor and open group discussions that evidence your progress in relation to applying the range of approaches and concepts that form part of the course content.
