Course SummaryCourse Overview This qualification (NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health) will provide an introduction to the knowledge and awareness of children and young people’s mental health. This course allows you to develop specialist knowledge and understanding of children and young people’s mental health in context, mental health problems commonly associated with children and young people, the impact of mental ill-health on children and young people and support available to maintain mental wellbeing in children and young people. The course is delivered remotely and runs over 10 weeks with 4.5 hours of scheduled contact time each week. You will be assigned a subject specialist course tutor who will deliver the live scheduled sessions. The tutor will also be available for weekly support and to guide you from the beginning to the completion of your qualification. Throughout the academic year both evening and daytime study options are available. The qualification is internally assessed using a range of methods including written assignments or tasks This qualification will not only support employment opportunities, but also the possibility of progressing on to the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health. You may also wish to consider completing this course as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to support your current role. Entry Requirements No previous training or experience is required for this programme but you must be over 19 on the 31 August before the course start date. Qualification ObtainedCertificate in Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health Industry Placement and Field TripsThis is a knowledge-only qualification; there are no industry placements and no field trips on this course. Learning and Teaching MethodsThis course will be delivered remotely with live lectures and support sessions schedule for a total of 4.5 hours a week for 10 consecutive weeks from the course start date. Within these sessions there will be tutor delivery, question and answer, discussion, group work tasks and individual tasks. It is expected that you will complete a minimum of 3.5 hours independent study, each week, outside of the class to complete the assessment tasks which take the form of electronic workbooks. Expert Tutors All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
