Career progression Once you successfully complete the course you could progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills. Alternatively, you could use this course as a stepping stone to another health and social care course. Key information Entry Requirements You don't need any previous counselling training or experience, however you will need to be able to undertake written and spoken assessments at level 2. You need to be at least 19 and must not be in a state of severe emotional difficulty or psychological confusion, nor involved in substance misuse. Industry placement, field trips and guest speakersThere are no work placements and no field trips on this course. We use a variety of teaching and learning methods to support different learning styles and to motivate and engage you throughout the course. This is a 18-week course, timetabled for 6 hours on one day per week at our Bispham Campus In addition, we will expect you to devote 6 hours each week to independent study. You will study the following four modules: Using Counselling skills Introduction to Counselling Skills Theories Diversity and Ethics in the Use of Counselling Skills Counselling Skills and Personal Development You will also need to set up and maintain an accurate, up-to-date portfolio of evidence, which will include written tasks, and observations and reflections on practice and skills sessions. This will involve drawing on sector-related products such as the BACP Ethical Framework and organisational policies and procedures.
