Course SummaryThis qualification (NCFE CACHE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges) provide an introduction to the knowledge and understanding needed to work in a school or college environment. This course allows you to develop specialist knowledge and understanding of core mandatory units, including safeguarding and health and safety, essential to working or supporting in schools. This qualification will not only support employment opportunities, but also the possibility of progressing on to the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning. This course is ideal for those already working or volunteering in school, to develop their underpinning knowledge, but also for those looking to move in to supportive roles such as administrative roles, site support roles, technical roles and volunteers, as well as roles that work directly with children and young people in the learning environment. You will be assigned a subject specialist course tutor who will deliver the live scheduled sessions. The tutor will also be available for weekly support and to guide you from the beginning to the completion of your qualification. The qualification is internally assessed using a range of methods including written assignments or tasks. Expert tuition is delivered by our industry specialists on this programme, with access to continued online support to assist in completing your assignments. Entry Requirements No previous training or experience is required for this programme but you must be over 19 on the 31 August before the course start date. Learning and Teaching Methods All the following units within this course are mandatory: SWSC1 Understand Schools and Colleges as Organisations Knowledge (2 credits) SWSC2 Understand Children and Young People’s Development Knowledge (3 credits) SWSC3 Understand Communication and Professional Relationships with Children, Young People and Adults Knowledge (1 credit) SWSC4 Understand Children and Young People’s Health and Safety Knowledge (2 credits) SWSC5 Safeguarding Children and Young People Knowledge (3 credits) SWSC6 Understand Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Work with Children and Young People Knowledge (1 credit) This course will be delivered face-to-face and support sessions schedule for a total of 4.5 hours a week for 12 consecutive weeks (term time only) from the course start date. It is expected that you will complete a minimum of 3 hours independent study, each week, outside of the class to complete the assessment tasks which take the form of electronic workbooks.
