Course Summary Whether you currently work or are wishing to work in health and social care, you need to understand the fundamentals of safeguarding in order to protect the health, well-being and human rights of the people you care for. This Level 2 qualification in Understanding Dignity and Safeguarding in Adult Health and Social Care will teach you about the key principles of dignity, duty of care and safeguarding. The course also covers the dilemmas you might face when working in adult health and social care, the responsibilities you have to the people you care for, and what can happen if care principles aren't properly upheld. This 6 week course is one of a suite of short 6 week CPD courses available over the academic year. Others available include: Level 2 Certificate in Understanding the Safe Handling of Medication Level 2 Award in Helping Skills Level 2 Award in Awareness of Dementia Level 2 Award in Prevention and Control of Infection Level 2 Award in Nutrition and Health Entry Requirements No previous training or experience is required for this programme but you must be over 19 on the 31 August before the course start date Qualification Obtained Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Dignity and Safeguarding in Adult Health and Social Care Qualification ObtainedCertificate in Understanding Dignity and Safeguarding in Adult Health and Social Care Entry Requirements No previous training or experience is required for this programme but you must be over 19 on the 31 August before the course start date Qualification Obtained Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Dignity and Safeguarding in Adult Health and Social Care Learning and Teaching Methods Modules/Subjects Covered This course consists of the following four units: Understanding Safeguarding in Adult Health and Social Care Principles of Dignity in Adult Health and Social Care Practice Understanding Duty of Care in Adult Health and Social Care Understanding Dilemmas and Public Concerns in Adult Health and Social Care Industry Placement and Field Trips This is a knowledge-only qualification; there are no work placements required and no field trips planned as part of this qualification. The course is delivered over 6 weeks from the course start date through once weekly 4 hour classroom based sessions with a specialist course tutor. The tutor will also be available for weekly support and will guide you from the beginning to the completion of your qualification. Within these sessions there will be tutor delivery, question and answer, discussion, group work tasks and individual tasks. It is expected that you will complete a minimum of 4 hours independent study, each week, outside of the class to complete the assessment tasks which take the form of electronic workbooks. You will also have access to a Virtual Learning Platform which will provide you with additional resources to support completion of the qualification. Expert Tutors All staff involved in the delivery of adult education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver. The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice.
