Summary Start your journey towards becoming a fully qualified Electrical and Electronic Engineer with the Level 3 Triple Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Co-created with industry this qualification is aimed at learners preparing for roles in electrical and electronic engineering, for example power engineering technicians, to allow you to develop the exact skills needed. There is a strong focus on experimental and practical techniques so you learn to apply your knowledge to real industry scenarios. You will also develop your analytical and problem-solving abilities. This is a challenging and exciting course, featuring work experience and delivered by enthusiastic expert tutors all keen to support you towards success. This qualification is the equivalent of 3 A levels. If you do not achieve a grade 3 in GCSE Maths or English you will have to work towards re-sitting these subjects as part of your main study programme. Career progressionOn completion of the course you will have achieved a Level 3 Extended Diploma which is the ideal starting point to move on to the next stage of your career or to move into your chosen engineering specialism.Progression could be either directly to employment in Level 3 job roles, higher apprenticeship programmes or via higher education courses in engineering. Industry placement, field trips and guest speakers20 hours mandatory work placement each year makes up part of the course. This placement will take place in one of The Fylde Coast or Wyre’s local engineering companies and in addition to normal timetabled college hours. How will I learn? Optional subjects are varied and course related to meet the needs of the awarding body, industry and students' interests.Most of the teaching and learning on this course takes place in our dedicated engineering suites and computer-based classrooms.Our expert tutors understand that everyone learns in different ways so they use a range of teaching methods to enable everyone to achieve their potential.These include plenty of practical activities, designed to develop your understanding of key engineering principles as well as your employability skills. Guest speakers from industry provide real-life insight into your chosen career area.Throughout the course, we will provide you with lots of individual support, including regular target setting and reviews to ensure you remain on track.Timetabled hours per week total 13 and we will expect you to devote an additional 3 hours each week to independent study.Practical sessions account for 60% of the taught element of this course and theory, 40%.The course also features work experience in a relevant placement setting, study skills sessions and a personal tutorial. Expert tutorsAll staff involved in the delivery of further education courses within the College are approved to teach the subjects and modules they deliver.The approval process ensures that staff delivering a given programme are appropriately qualified and, where appropriate, possess relevant technical and industrial experience and professional practice. How will I be assessed? How will I be assessed?Equivalent to 3 A Levels.• 15 units of which 7 are mandatory and 3 are external.• Mandatory content (58%)• External assessment (33%)The first year consists of a general engineering start with progression to the specific subjects at the beginning of year 2. There are 3 units in the first year that are assessed by externally set and marked exams.You will be in a classroom or workshop for approximately 15 hrs a week throughout all the first and second year, on top of this you will be expected to complete homework/assignments and work placement outside of these hours.The specific modules are all assessed with assignments that will require both written and practical work to complete.
