Key information Course SummaryThis Managed Learning Programme (MLP) has been designed specifically for people who want to start a career within the gas industry but who have little or no trade experience. Developed in response to changes to the Gas Industry Standard of Training, this qualification is approved by Gas Safe and provides a pathway to becoming a domestic gas operative. By achieving the MLP certification, candidates will then be eligible to progress onto the ACS domestic gas assessment and on successful completion of the modules will then become a qualified gas operative, able to work on domestic gas installations and appliances. The programme consist of on the job work experience under the supervision of a qualified Gas Engineer as your mentor and in-centre training for both practical and theoretical elements of the programme. Entry RequirementsThere are no specific entry requirements for this programme. It is suitable for candidates with no experience or previous qualifications in this field. Please note: Where wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is a mandatory requirement of the course, it is the responsibility of the learner to ensure that they are able to wear such equipment. Modules covered on the programme are:- Legislation, Health and Safety Combustion and its Control Chimneys Ventilation Pressure, Flow, Tightness Testing and Purging Domestic Pipework Installation Heating Design, Heat Loss and Comfort Conditions Installation and Servicing of Domestic Central Heating and Hot Water Appliances Installation and Servicing of Domestic Ducted Air Heaters Installation and Servicing of Domestic Cooking Appliances Installation and Servicing of Domestic Space Heating Appliances Assessment weighting 45% written exams / scenarios 65% practical assessment in centre.
