Building Services Engineering for Construction: Electrotechnical Engineering - T Level


This course is designed for practically-minded students who have an eye for detail and are interested in electrical aspects of the construction industry.

From design principles to health and safety, this T Level will arm you with all the necessary knowledge to start a successful career in the trade. In fact, with a T level qualification under your belt, you can fast track to an apprenticeship and become a qualified electrician in just two years.

Combing study with the opportunity to practise in our top-class facilities and the chance to work with an employer for at least 9 weeks means you’ll have a head start when it comes to looking for job opportunities.

What's more, if you decide to pursue a higher qualification like our HNCs in Quantity Surveying or Site Management, a T Level will give you the opportunity to acquire the necessary UCAS points to access these and other degree-level programmes.

What will I learn?

Industry placement, field trips and guest speakers

This course features a mandatory 750-hour work placement over the two years, designed to enhance learning and increase your employability.

You could be working on construction sites or developments at private residences.

We will also invite you to attend mandatory relevant field trips and career events, which you could draw from to enhance your CV and personal statement.

•    The construction industry and its role in the economy
•    Sustainability and the environmental impact of construction
•    Business, commerce and corporate social responsibility

They will also learn about topics specific to building services engineering, including:

•    Building technology principles
•    Building services engineering systems
•    Maintenance principles
•    Tools, equipment and materials

Teaching is delivered in groups and supported by group activities and discussions.

One-to-one support is also provided to help with completing written assignments.

When you start the course we will assign you a progress tutor who will support you throughout your time here.

Their role is to help you in setting academic and personal targets, identifying career plans, developing employability skills and monitoring your progress to make sure you realise your full potential.
