Machining Technician - Advanced Apprenticeship

Job Summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our engineering team as an Apprentice CNC Machinist. This apprenticeship follows the national CNC Machinist apprenticeship standard and is designed to develop the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional behaviours required to become a competent CNC machinist. During the first academic year, the apprentice will a build a strong foundation in engineering principles, machining processes, and CNC technology.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Throughout the apprenticeship, you will be trained and supported to competently carry out the following:

  • Program, set, and operate CNC machine tools using company-supplied production, engineering, and process documentation
  • Interpret and work from detailed technical drawings, specifications, and job instructions
  • Produce precision components to required tolerances using CNC milling and/or turning machines
  • Carry out first-off inspections and ongoing self-inspection to ensure components meet quality and technical standards
  • Accurately complete all relevant internal production, quality, and inspection documentation
  • Assist with production planning activities to support efficient machine utilisation and workflow
  • Monitor machining processes and make basic adjustments where required under supervision
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, basic fault reporting, and housekeeping to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
  • Work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, company procedures, and safe systems of work always
  • Develop an understanding of continuous improvement, lean manufacturing principles, and workplace efficiency

You will be supported by experienced engineers and mentors, you will work towards successful completion of your apprenticeship.
