My Story

I began my career working on an IT Service Help Desk with the company that is now Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services. I spent four years there then progressed to roles such as COBOL programmer on the DLA (Disability Living Allowance) programme, Environments Manager on the new Proxima project and finally, a specialist in Siebel CRM support, incident management and batch support working on the new WATCh (Working Age Transformation and Change) project.

While I was working on the Proxima project I undertook some basic web developer training and this was what started my love of all things web. After spending six years on the WATCh project, I decided to take voluntary redundancy and re-enter the world of academia and in September 2014 I signed up for B&FC’s Foundation Degree in Interactive Media Development.

How B&FC Helped Me

My degree-level achievements include a Letter of Commendation, being named Higher Education Student of the Year 2017 and, ultimately, receiving a first class award. I was also given the opportunity to present my dissertation at the British Conference of Undergraduate Research 2017 and at B&FC’s annual Higher Education symposium.

Why B&FC?

Since graduating from the BSc (Hons) Interactive Media Development I’ve progressed to a PGCE teaching qualification and next year I’m hoping to do either a Masters in Computer Science or a PhD. I’m also the director of Frontier Consulting Solutions Ltd, which includes frontierwebdesign.co.uk and provides websites and consulting services for small businesses, charities and educational institutions.
