My Story

My Story

I came to Blackpool and the Fylde College because my brother came here and recommended it to me, as he knew I wanted to go into video game development. I was already considering coming here due to my work experience in high school being a teaching assistant at Blackpool Sixth Form and I knew that their course would not help me anywhere near as much.

I chose this course because I have wanted to do game development since I was about 6 years old and this looked like the best choice. I went through the game pathway as soon as my personal tutor made me aware of it, as it was the obvious choice to further my education into the sector I wanted.

My experience at Blackpool and the Fylde College has been excellent from the beginning and has only improved as I have been here. The staffs are extremely helpful and friendly and made sure that I was always on track with my work and helped me further my career as much as they could.

I am still studying my Honours Degree in Software Engineering and Game Development and hope to do my PGCE here and become a tutor at the college because the environment is more involved and professional than most other universities. The most common complaint I have heard from students that have gone to other universities is that there is very little in terms of tutor feedback as opposed to B&FC where feedback can be in form of one to one meetings with tutors or through constant communication via email when needed.

How B&FC Helped Me

How B&FC helped me

B&FC has extremely friendly and helpful; they will always try to make sure you are doing the best you can
B&FC has enabled me to study both college and university at the same campus
B&FC has enabled me to learn new skills that will be valuable in the workplace

Why B&FC?

The work placement opportunities ranged from working on live projects at game development companies to building user interfaces for successful software development businesses. I had never worked for a company before, however the tutors supported me in this transition.

The teaching environment at Blackpool and the Fylde College has enabled me to link with alumni working in the industry and this has inspired and supported me to develop a professional standard game that was released on STEAM on 22/03/2018.
