Simon Boothman (pictured), Manager of Booths new Lytham Store, comments, “The offer of the Skills for Life qualification delivered by Blackpool and The Fylde College has been embraced wholeheartedly by the staff in our new store in Lytham".
"They see this opportunity to gain a National Qualification as a worthwhile accomplishment for future progression within their job, as well as their personal self-confidence and self-satisfaction.”
Carol Norcott, Booths Company Training Manager, adds, "The positive partnership between Booths and Blackpool and the Fydle College was instigated during recruitment and assessment of staff for our new Lytham Store. This has resulted in the introduction of innovative training, which has proved to be successful and will now be cascaded to other branches of Booths in the near future."
The College’s Workforce Solutions Team has been working with The Lindum Hotel, St Annes, since the Train to Gain initiative started. Like many hotels The Lindum very much relies on word of mouth and returning trade. It is also in competition with many other hotels in St Annes and Blackpool so a skilled workforce is imperative. Paul Rowley, owner of The Lindum, is full of praise for the quality of training provision at Blackpool and The Fylde College. He said:
"I see our relationship with Blackpool and The Fylde College as a vital partnership between Further Education and the Catering Industry. The support we receive helps to attract enthusiastic, motivated employees and offer them, and our existing workforce, the chance to benefit from various training initiatives offered by the College. Our reputation is built on our employees’ ability to deliver a service that exceeds our clients’ expectations, with training the key to our future success."
Blackpool & The Fylde College have been working with Care UK Fleetwood for several years, facilitating NVQ Training at levels 2, 3 and 4. Our collaboration proved very successful, producing Student of the Year at both Level 2 and Level 4 and assisting us in recruiting and retaining well trained, motivated staff, who are instrumental in providing domiciliary care to the elderly and disabled that is designed to empower the individual while maintaining their independence.
We are a national company, but work hard to keep a “local feel”. Ultimately, our success is built on reputation and providing staff with the right tools to deliver a first class service, is the key to our continuing success.
