Research shows that 1.3 million people go to work every day without the skills they require to do their job proficiently. The affect on British Industry is astounding and the Government believe that British Industry does not compete as well as we should with Continental Europe.
In order to help the British workforce Train to Gain (TtG) was launched, this allows those that are under-qualified to access training for FREE and removes the burden on the employer of having to access their training budget. By doing this it is hoped that British Industry will compete more effectively with continental Europe.
When you consider that more than 7 million adults in England cannot read, write or count to a basic standard and almost a third of our working population do not have a Level 2 qualification, it is understandable why the Government had to do something. By funding Level 2 qualifications and Essential Skills the British workforce has become better qualified and better motivated. And as employers see the benefits of fully funded training, it becomes the norm in many organisations of varying sizes.
But what are the benefits, why should your organisation take up this offer of FREE training?:
Train to Gain helps fund vocational training for those employed, making sure they have the skills necessary to realise their full potential and maximise the skills of their organisation. Companies and organisations will benefit from improved workforce skills and business performance by providing free and subsidised training at a time and place that suits them.
Through Train to Gain the aim is to bring barriers down, identifying the skills businesses need and pinpointing the right training requirements.
The United Kingdom will benefit as a nation from improved international economic competitiveness. Around 300,000 workers in 2007 were thought to have achieved their first full Level 2 qualifications via Train to Gain and this will only increase in 2008.
