The project, which involves a partnership between Job Centre Plus and the college is designed to address the worklessness agenda. We will be targeting those individuals who are unemployed and receiving benefits and we will deliver a training programme that provides them with an opportunity to acquire pre-vocational skills, (including basic and soft skills) and employability skills, thus preparing them for the world of work.
We will be working with brokerage and community organisations that can support the referral of eligible clients and we will also be running a number of local launch events in order to secure media publicity for the activity.
Each individual will have an Individual Action Plan developed, they will undertake a vocational aptitude assessment, an employability baseline review and a Skills for Life screening ( to assess their basic skill level). At this stage any additional support needs will be identified. They will then attend a six week, outreach centre-based programme, combining motivational and confidence building activities.
