We offer an extensive package of training opportunities including National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), professional qualifications, short courses, workshops and seminars available when and where you need them. Since learners need to value and enjoy training we try to make sure that the learning experience is highly interactive, intensely practical and enjoyably stimulating.

The College is committed to helping develop ‘world class skills’ in response to the needs of the directive and regional and local priorities. As part of this, it created a new post of Director of Skills and Business Development to lead the Workforce Solutions team and strengthen and add focus to its work with employers.

Recent Success!

Blackpool and The Fylde College has been allocated some of the highest levels of funding for work-based training in the North West through Train to Gain (T2G), representing significant potential benefit for employers on the Fylde coast. 2007/08 saw significant growth in Train to Gain provision, recruiting 734 learners equating to 113% of target. The team achieved an impressive programme pass rate of 72% against a national target of 65%.

The College was highly commended for employer engagement as part of the Government’s Beacon Award process, adding to awards already received for work with Blackpool’s two major leisure and tourism employers, Leisure Parcs and the Pleasure Beach. Of note was its Skills for Life (SfL) provision, which exceeded its original target by 300 per cent. Last year, the College delivered 40 per cent of the total SfL provision in Lancashire.

Apprentices in paid employment whilst studying at Blackpool and The Fylde College outstripped regional success rates by 12%, with an exceptional 77% pass rate. The results place the College 4th in the Lancashire league table of Apprenticeship providers.

The College has seen its full- and part-time Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) provision and numbers continue to grow over the last few years, with a 7% increase, this is directly in line with the Government agenda and the drive for world class skills.
