Self-dedicated campuses located in Ansdell and Fleetwood are home to exceptional facilities that include fully operational hair and beauty salons, superbly-equipped treatment and computer rooms and a unique barber’s salon. A further salon, staffed by students from the School, exists at our Bispham Campus.

Janine Pollard - Foundation Degree in Professional Practice

janine_pollard.jpgI decided to go into higher education at the age of 36, on top of running a business and a family. I also gave birth to a baby boy while on the course!

I always felt I should have gone into further education straight from school but I chose to work instead. Fortunately I landed an amazing job and founded my own business but I always felt it was something I needed to do. I was extremely pleased to find a course that would actually further my skills in a job I have been in for 20 years.

The tuition, mentoring and facilities at the College are excellent and we were encouraged to work towards our own timetables and goals. Although at times daunting, the satisfaction of such achievement was an amazing feeling.

Coming to College helped me believe in myself – if it wasn’t for this course I wouldn’t be where I am now. I learnt so much academically but I also feel much more excited and confident when looking towards the future.

I think anyone who is scared of higher education or believes it is out of reach should rethink as the sense of achievement will stay with you forever. I feel like my life began again when I started my degree: it gave me a second chance, it was a life changing journey.
