A successful year for the School saw the number of higher education learners rise by a quarter and curriculum innovation continue in order to keep pace with an ever-changing industry. Our Employer Liaison Board, has been instrumental in this regard. Excellent employer links helped to ensure fantastic placements for learners and led to permanent employment opportunities for some.

The period saw the School strengthen its relationships with both the armed forces and the emergency services in order to retain high quality and career- focused provision in the area of public services. This co-operative approach to training, characterised by visits, guest speakers and opportunities for learners to become involved in community projects, is highly valued by the sector and doubtless a factor in these programmes achieving 100% success and retention levels, the highest within the College as a whole.

Industry Links

Bespoke activity during the period was substantial and included ongoing collaboration with Gala Casinos to deliver customised training to 170 of its middle managers. During this year a submission was prepared for a National Training Award in collaboration with Gala Casino.

The School was delighted to be working once again with League Football Education (LFE) and Blackpool Football Club on their flourishing Apprentice Education Programme. Meanwhile, players from our own team had reason to be proud when in May they secured the English College FA League One title and with it promotion to the Premier League.
