This innovative new programme has been developed by the Teaching Quality Enhancement Project (TQEP) team modelled on a system that is currently used to support medical practitioners known as Continuing Medical Education (CME).
CLE modules are designed to deliver ‘bite sized’ educational development activities; which will enable HE in FE lecturers to enhance and develop their academic skills through scholarship and research quite literally any time, any place, anywhere.
The CLE programme consists of a series of modules which are mapped to the UK Professional Standards Framework for Higher Education.
The modules vary in size and complexity and are designed to provide a completely flexible approach to continuing professional development.
The modules are set at HE levels 1, 2 and 3 in the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) and reflect the full range of higher level capabilities required by a professional in academic practice.
The modules are also designed to foster the development of evidence-informed approaches, encouraging intercollegiate exchange of effective educational practice thus informing and influencing strategic change and policy development in HE in FE.
The CLE is designed to enhance and support the reflective activities identified in the Scholarship and Research Audit Development Tool (SARAD) thus raising the status of the scholarship of teaching.
