Deputy Principal honoured for services to education

Blackpool and The Fylde College is delighted to share the news that Catherine Hill, Deputy Principal, has been awarded an OBE for Services to Education in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list. 

For the past 30 years Catherine has dedicated herself to the Further Education sector and is passionate about helping students succeed, progress to employment and become productive members of the community.

Commenting on her award, Catherine said: “It gives me great pleasure to accept this honour. I am humbled that the work that I am so fervently passionate and committed to has been recognised. I would like to thank the teams of people I have worked with across the years, all of whom played a role in me receiving this honour.”

During her time with Blackpool and The Fylde College, it has become one of the largest general further education colleges in England and gone from strength to strength. With key achievements including: achievements including:

·         October 2013 and graded Outstanding by Ofsted for all main aspects of the framework.

·         2013/14 the college was the highest performing college in England with success rates of 92.9%, versus the national average of 84%

·         2014/15 maintaining its excellent overall success rates at 92.5 %

·         2014/15 STEM Assured Status. The College delivers more STEM based HE than any other FE College in England.

·         2015 awarded the prestigious Queens Anniversary Prize Award for Higher and Further Education Excellence
