A word to parents

Parents1.jpgAs a parent of a son or daughter who’s considering studying and working such a long way from home, you’re bound to have some concerns.

You needn’t worry though. At the College, your son or daughter will be well looked after by experienced and supportive staff. New cadets live on campus in our Halls of Residence, which helps to prepare them for life at sea. The training they receive is of the highest quality, so that when it’s time for them to set sail they’re entirely ready to do so.

A fabulous career

For most young people working to gain a degree, there’s no guarantee they will secure a job at the end of it. It’s comforting to know then that once your son or daughter graduates they will begin a highly-lucrative and professional career with excellent opportunities for progression.

No student debt

What’s more, with all tuition and accommodation fees paid for by the sponsoring company, your son or daughter won’t be laden down with debt by the time they start work.

"The whole experience has done Patrick the world of good, he’s grown up a lot and he’s been very well looked after, both by his sponsoring company and by the College."

Lynda Haddow, mother to Patrick

"As a parent, you’re bound to have doubts and apprehensions about your son or daughter going away but you have to have the confidence to let them get through it. It’s not as bad as you think and the College trains and nurtures them so that they’re ready to go when they have to. Liam has gone from strength to strength – it’s been the making of him."

Brian Thompson, father to Liam
