Students at Fleetwood Nautical Campus celebrated their Higher Education Awards Ceremony Day at the Thornton Little Theatre, Thursday 25th June 2009. Over 70 students celebrated their achievements and are now looking forward to return back to seagoing careers.

Over 70 Graduands celebrated their achievements, consisting of two groups; the first achieving a HND in Nautical Science and the second achieving a Foundation Degree in Nautical Science. The Foundation Degree group is the first of its kind in the UK to go through the programme and the students have now qualified as graduate Trainee Officers.

The Ceremony began with a procession of the Stage Party led by Victor Burns, a student at the Nautical Campus. Stephen Lamley, the Chair of the Board of Governors, then officially opened the Ceremony and welcomed all the Graduands, staff, family and their friends. The Principal’s speech was followed by a presentation of awards by Allan Graveson, Senior National Secretary at Nautilus.
