This is my first lecturing role following a successful year’s study for my PGCE qualification at Blackpool and the Fylde College. I enjoyed working towards acquiring my PGCE and the course was led by excellent, supportive and inspiring tutors. My placement was in the School of Business and Professional Studies at the College and I was fortunate to secure a lecturers position in the school following my placement.
Having previously worked in a Business Management role that was becoming routine I was drawn to teaching to help people realise their potential, try to make an impact on young peoples’ lives and expand their opportunities. I soon found teaching at Blackpool and the Fylde College to be a fantastic, diverse and enjoyable experience. I discovered teaching the learners to be a rewarding and worth while experience. I especially enjoy the interaction with the students and working in a varied and exciting teaching environment. I can see first hand the learning experience taking effect with important life and social skills being nurtured and supported for academic purposes and the larger scope for work and life beyond the college.
I have lived in and around Blackpool and the Fylde area for a number of years since my University days finished. I enjoy being only a relatively short drive from the Lakes for biking and relaxing or shopping and drinking in Manchester or Liverpool is always an attractive prospect and only a short trip away. Blackpool has a lot to offer people and I am keen to see the College driving the regeneration of the central area of the town in the upcoming years.
I have experienced working with a truly committed team of individuals who always have our learners as their key priority and really do go the extra distance to help them realise and achieve their dreams. No day is ever the same and I’m proud to work at Blackpool and the Fylde College.
