I joined Blackpool & The Fylde College in April 2005 and was instantly made to feel part of a forward thinking and progressive institution. I have worked in three other F.E. colleges, and none of them have provided me with the same opportunities to develop my professional skills.
I am currently part of the C.E.L programme which is having a real impact on my skills as a manager. I am leading a team of high achieving staff in a college with high aspirations and this makes for a challenging and rewarding working environment. As a Curriculum Manager I have been given the support needed when making some difficult decisions, and I can honestly say that the senior management team have been very responsive to developments that I have wanted to initiate.
The college has a large H.E. portfolio and I have been encouraged and supported to develop both B.A. (Hons) programmes and Foundation Degrees, this has enabled me to develop new skills and opened new opportunities for research and self development.
Blackpool is currently undergoing a major regeneration programme and the college is at the heart of much of this development. It is indeed an exciting time to be here and I am proud to be contributing to the ongoing success of the college and the students we nurture.
