Whilst every effort is made to ensure that the information used in the creation of these pages is up to date and accurate, development of Health & Safety legislation and its accompanying guidance is a fast progressing area. "To support Blackpool and the Fylde College, by assuring a healthy and safe environment for all members of the College Community."
Categorised under law as the Employer, the Board of Governors (the Board) of Blackpool and the Fylde College, both recognise, and accept their responsibility for health and safety of all members of the College community, whether working, studying or visiting at any College facility.
Further, the Board also accept their responsibility for ensuring that the College operates in a manner that is both supportive and protective of the environment. To these ends the Board will ensure the provision of conditions that comply, as far as is reasonably practicable, with the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all other relevant health and safety legislation.
The Board seeks the co-operation of all members of the College community in achieving these objectives.
The College Health, Safety & Environmental Support Unit is based within the Blackpool and the Fylde College Estates Services. Primarily an advisory support unit, its main purpose is to assist the College’s senior management and other staff in working safely and legally.
The aim of these pages is to assist colleagues or other members of the College community, who may only rarely visit any of the Main College Campuses or centres, or additionally who may be working at home, to have access to the College Health and Safety provision. In this way College employees can be assured that all are approaching health and safety issues the same way, and that we adopt the same methodology when addressing those issues.
