Engineering, Computing and Automotive - Nuclear Engineering

Both of these are two year part-time courses are run at the College’s main campus at Bispham, and are classed as ‘Technical Certificates’ for nuclear apprentices.

Both of these two year part-time courses, run at the College’s main campus at Bispham, are offered to third year nuclear apprentices.

A degree-level course being developed by Blackpool and The Fylde College and UCLan, in conjunction with employers in the nuclear industry. It is also planned that an honours top-up will be available in due course. For more details, please contact the Curriculum Manager.

  • BEng (Hons.) Mechatronics Engineering (ET1HE514)

  • Business Improvement Techniques (B-IT) NVQ at Level 2 (EC1TG234) and Level 3 (EC1TG235)

These courses are ideally suited to those intending to get involved with continuous improvement and employees already working within a team who wish their skills to be developed further. New employees would also make ideal candidates.

  • ANIA (the Award for Nuclear Industry Awareness)a Level 2 qualification developed with industry representatives for those working in, or looking to join, any part of the nuclear industry, including suppliers, partners and contractors to the nuclear industry.

It delivers a general grounding and appreciation of nuclear power generation, a history of the industry, reprocessing and waste management, and nuclear defence including propulsion.

This course consists of 60 guided learning hours arranged to suit the employer (for example, 6 full days of training delivered in three two day sessions , with paper based test in following week).
