Blackpool and The Fylde College has been addressing the ‘Worklessness’ agenda by engaging with the unemployed over a number of years. This activity has been delivered throughout the Fylde Coast. Each programme has its own unique content which is designed to suit and meet both the employer and potential employee’s individual needs.

The aims of these programmes are to raise self-esteem, motivation, self belief and to offer the opportunity of gaining new skills and qualifications. In addition, clients create a new network of friends and further develop social and personal skills. During attendance on the programmes clients have access to the Specialist Job Brokers who support job search activity and preparation for interviews.

The College has now developed and delivered a range of successful employer led, pre-employment programmes, across the Fylde Coast. These programmes are flexible, can be delivered on employer’s premises, and tailored for specific job roles within a company.
