Course Overview

 The course duration is at least 12 months.

The learner has to undertake a total of 38 credits of which:

Certificate in Retail skills (Competence) - 24 credits, include units:

  • Work effectively in a retail team
  • Keep stock on sale at required levels in a retail environment
  • Process returned goods in a retail environment
  • Process green grocery products for sale in a retail environment
  • Pick products in a retail environment to fulfil customer orders
  • Display stock to promote sales to customers in a retail environment
  • Promote loyalty schemes to customers in a retail environment
  • Assemble visual merchandising displays
  • Give customers  a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
  • Manage the payment transaction process in a retail environment

Certificate in Retail (Knowledge) – 14 credits, include units:

  • Understanding customer service in the retail sector
  • Understanding how a retail business maintains health and safety on its premises
  • Understanding the retail selling process
  • Understanding how individuals and teams contribute to the effectiveness of a retail business.
  • Understanding retail consumer law

Learners will need to undertake online tests to demonstrate their knowledge in their chosen units

Course Entry Requirements

 Apprentices will undergo an initial assessment to identify prior learning and experience which may count towards the achievement of this Apprenticeship.
